MANILA, Philippines – Former president Rodrigo Duterte is arrested on Tuesday morning, March 11, at the NAIA Terminal 3. The ICC issued an arrest warrant against him last March 7, while he was in Hong Kong over the weekend to campaign to Filipinos there. From NAIA, he was transferred to Villamor Air Base in Pasay City.

Questions regarding Duterte’s turnover to the ICC are rife – as Duterte himself earlier claimed he was detained without due process, and Duterte ally Senator Bato Dela Rosa filed a petition with the Supreme Court questioning the arrest.

In this Rappler special coverage, Rappler senior reporter Bea Cupin speaks with multimedia reporters Lian Buan and Jairo Bolledo, and Rappler investigative head Chay Hofileña, who followed Duterte’s case with the ICC since the investigation began in 2018.

They will be also joined by Rappler head of community Pia Ranada, who covered Duterte’s presidency, and Rappler forensic researcher Gaby Baizas. – Rappler.com
