CEBU, Philippines – Lapu-Lapu City Representative Ma. Cynthia King-Chan won the mayoral race in the city on Monday, May 12.
Chan earned 134,028 votes against former congresswoman Paz Radaza and independent candidate Christine Takahashi, based on partial, unofficial results of the Commission on Elections (Comelec). As of 11:58 pm, 76.16% of the votes were transmitted.
Based on the Comelec data, Lapu-Lapu City has more than 277,000 registered voters.
Chan ran under the local Team Kaabag party with candidates from Lakas–Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas–CMD) and Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP).
Lakas–CMD is the party of House Speaker Martin Romualdez, while PFP is the party of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.. – Rappler.com
